Rivers, once cherished because they offered water and transportation, now have a new use - tourism

For very long humans settled along rivers for obvious reasons – they provided water to drink and irrigate, offered transportation and formed natural barriers.

This seems especially true of Vietnam where most towns and cities are situated along rivers.

The Opera Restaurant in the Park Hyatt Hotel has a promotion offering Italian-style Alaskan black cod during February, and we were there last week to savor it.

The cuisine was southern Italian, and the restaurant welcomed us with the sight of homemade cheese, deserts, cakes, oranges, and olive sauce in glass jars and the hearty fragrances of Italian food.

City welcomes Year of the Dragon with special flower street

The Tet flower road will return to Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City this Friday, highlighted by a giant dragon blowing blooms, as the city starts celebrating the Year of Dragon.

With the Lunar New Year starting Monday next week, work to transform Nguyen Hue Street into a street of flowers began on January 10.
